6:30am. I woke when I felt the bed shift, I opened my eyes and Ross had opened the door to the balcony to see the sun come up at Scuba Club Cozumel. He quickly came back to bed and that was my time to go grab some coffee, wake up, check in at the dive shop and wake him up for a day full of blue ocean, friends and cool fishes!

We set sail around 8:30 am and we were in the water as soon as we could be.

Dive 1

Easy. It was a very fun little drift dive. Not a lot to see in the water because there is a tropical storm headed our way, but really cool to work on buoyancy skills and just cruise with the water.

Dive 2

This is where it gets interesting! We all jumped into the water and there was an instantious joy! Fish were everywhere! I immediately swam into a school and tried the ol’ BOO technique. It’s really only funny to me and maybe my friends, but I will always get a kick. There was more coral and fish around that I had seen so far here in Cozumel. I was with our dive group and I saw Ross peeking hard at a piece of coral. At the bottom, where sharks, eels or crustaceans like to gather and he was looking with such intent. I signaled to ask what he was looking at and he signaled back “Lobster”. It must be huge so I swam over and there it was, a sunken treasure chest. A wooden box! Are you serious??? Did we just find a wooden box full of gold? I looked at him and made the “square” gesture and then he just gave me the push, go on hand movement. I am terrified of touching coral or anything near it but I bunkered down, put my hand in the sand and went for the little wood box.

It has a brass clasp, hook; closure and I gently opened it! Out popped a note! A note I recognized – from our typewriter! He typed out the proposal, laminated it, got a treasure chest and hid this from me the entire trip! I read the note, emotionally, 60ft below the surface and took out my breathing device and kissed him hard! We had a little slate so we could communicate under water and I said I wanted to go up now, but we didn’t. We kept diving. We wrote lovely things to one another and just kept hugging. He scribbled that “he called my father on Friday”, and I burst into tears.

We all surfaced and high fived and hugged everyone! It was a very loving moment!

Back to the room, here it goes:

Ross: Do you want to see it?

Kiki: No, I don’t want to see it on the computer, I’d rather wait to see it in real life

Ross: No baby, it’s here. It’s right behind you!

Kiki: What? Where?!!! Are you serious!!!!

SWOON!!!!!!!

TRAVEL-1

2:51pm

We arrived at Scuba Club Cozumel not to long ago, about 2 hours and I already feel such peace being near the ocean. Our room is huge, clean and very colorful! I finally have the pink room I’ve always wanted. I’m pretty sure Ross asked for the biggest nicest room they had available, he said he didn’t, but I don’t believe him. The entire back wall of our room is floor to celling windows with the ocean right hrere. We are far enough away from the cruise boats but the sure are cool to see. So big! (Glad I’m not on them).

We had a small bite to eat at the restaurant here. Some fresh guacamole, salsa and those handmade tortillas chips that you just cant stop eating! Can’t go wrong there. Add in a little michilada and fresh margarita and you already have a great start to a great vacation.

We then walked over to the front desk to see if our room was available for check in yet, and whom do we see?! Our best buds from Chicago Tom and Sue! The timing couldn’t have been more perfect.

I quickly unpacked and set up our gear for tomorrows diving. I am so beyond thrilled and excited to spend my birthday under the sea with my favorite human being on earth, the love of my life, Ross Phillips and our dearest friends that live just to dang far. So blessed to have all 3 of them here to celebrate my birthday with me and hopefully some cool dolphins will come say hi too! Let the travels and discovery begin!

Cassie wanted very long hair so we had a talk and decided the best way to achieve the very long locks she desired was to use Hotheads Extensions. When she came in she wasn’t sure what color, or how long she wanted to go. She posted a few pictures on Instagram and took an online vote so I really didn’t know what to expect. When she came in, I simply showed her my color swatch ring that all the hair is available in. No point in doing a color that the extension company doesn’t make. She chose the dark brown to violet Ombre color swatch and I was all set for the challenge. I put my thinking cap on and went to work.

We had 2 appointments; the 1st one was to color the hair to match the swatch. The 2nd was to apply the hair weft after we made the order.

1st appointment we did an all over dark brown on her new growth and used the previously lightened color as a jumping base to apply the violet tone. I used Pravana Vivids in 3 different shades to custom match the purple tone in the extension. Round 1 was a hit!

2nd appointment she came in about 1 week later. We took out her new 100% Remy human hair 18-22” in length, and in 1 hour, her hair was about 4-5” longer and looking mighty fine. Hotheads hair extensions are a tape weft extension that look and feel  flawless.

I had so much fun doing this transformation I could hardly contain my happiness! I love what I do and I hope you do too!

Libby has the loveliest red copper hair I have ever had the pleasure of doing. She always comes in and just lets me do whatever I want to. Sometimes we go blonde, sometimes we go dark but usually there is a red or copper hair laced in there! This time we did an all over copper at her new growth and pulled though the ends some relights by Wella. This just enhanced her highlights with a copper blonde glaze that added tons of shine and made her color POP! I love her and I love her willingness to let go, and let me do my thing!

Change your way of thinking and better yourself! GO TEAM INDEED! Recently I watched a video from Nicole Arbour that spoke about chronic pain. If you don’t know who she is, look her up. She has been dealing with injuries for some time now and I love her outlook on life. Being injured as well, this just hit for me and I had to share.

The struggle is real and how we choose to let these struggles affect our lives is real as well. I choose to wake up every day and go kick ass and help inspire others as well, all while struggling with back, neck, leg and severe ankle injuries. I was told once the only way to stop my pain was to fuse bone fragments together, which would leave me with an immobile ankle. NO THANKS! I’ll take my limp from time to time. This sums up how to address your issues and work through them easier then any self help book I’ve ever read.

How to get through hard times in 4 easy steps

(My cliff notes from Nicole Arbour!)

  • Identify it, what the problem is

Attack the obstacle- go after it!

  • Deal with the fact its not going to be easy.

Awesome things take work

  • Stop with the pity party. Are you a victim or victor?

  • Every day get up, do the work, and cheer for everyone!!!!!

Motivate yourself by seeing others doing well.

This is how I view life and I hope you get something out of it too!
